AIA and Allianz team up to simplify retirement planning

AIA Australia and Allianz Retire+ have launched a joint initiative designed to assist financial advisers in managing client retirement strategies. The partnership integrates health-focused programs with income solutions to mitigate risks tied to extended lifespans. It specifically targets the 2.8 million Australians projected to retire within the next ten years, many of whom report difficulty understanding available retirement products.
Data from the Super Members Council shows that three-quarters of pre-retirees describe retirement options as confusing. The complexity of the system may cost an average retiree as much as $136,000 over their retirement period, according to the research.
Participants can begin securing retirement income as early as age 50, ensuring financial stability across their later years. The partnership encourages early planning, stressing the importance of maintaining health and social connections during retirement.
Damien MU, CEO of AIA, emphasized that financial security is fundamental to overall wellbeing, particularly as Australians live longer but often face declining health. David Kane, CEO of Allianz Retire+, noted a rising demand for structured retirement income solutions, indicating a broader trend in how Australians approach retirement preparation and longevity planning.
This effort prioritizes member engagement over product innovation, utilizing existing resources to support super funds, financial advisers, and retirement service providers.
The framework established by the collaboration follows five key stages, Engage > Protect > Recover > Prepare > Retire, to guide clients through major life transitions. By linking health incentives with financial planning, the initiative aims to streamline retirement preparation and enhance outcomes for retirees over the long term.
